Volunteering
What is Volunteering?

Volunteer work is an opportunity for people of all ages to perform public work, to promote the overall development of society. Youth volunteering aims at the acquisition of skills and first experience. Young people who perform voluntary work more fully prepare themselves for adult life, applying the acquired school knowledge in practice.
For young people volunteering is very important for the growth of personality in the process of education, because it teaches us to understand the values of trust, respect, care, compassion u.PR. Volunteer work helps to acquire practical skills, either individually or in partnership with like-minded people, acting, working, creating and developing the environment. This contributes to the ability to fit into society and the labour market.
In the context of the European Solidarity Corps, volunteering is a full time unpaid activity that has a duration of up to 12 months and contributes to the achievement of the common good. This type of solidarity activity is undertaken through participating organizations that offer young people the opportunity to carry out a wide variety of activities, in a structured way. Volunteering is one of the most visible manifestation of solidarity.
Volunteering also enables young people to acquire useful experience, skills and competences for their personal, educational, social, cultural, civic and professional development, thereby improving their employability and active citizenship. Activities supported under volunteering constitute a rich experience in a non formal and informal learning context, which enhances young people’s competences.
Simple words, volunteering is free activity. Person makes something (participates in projects, becomes a member of the team of sanitary cleaning of the territories, cares for animals, helps organizing projects for children, cares for disabled people, etc.) at their own desire on no-paid basis.
